Ready to ride into the world of bikepacking?

Ever dreamt of escaping the city and immersing yourself in breathtaking scenery, the crunch of gravel beneath your tyres and quality banter as your only soundtrack? Do the words "bikepacking adventure" conjure images of rugged landscapes and nature? But perhaps the thought of bikepacking for the first time or lugging gear feels daunting? Well, get ready to have your adventure cravings satisfied!

We're stoked to invite our MC Velo members to experience the magic of bikepacking on our two-day escape through the stunning landscapes surrounding Wollombi. Forget wrestling with overloaded bikes and tent setups. This is bikepacking without the packing burden – just pure riding pleasure, incredible vistas, hearty pub meals, and a cozy bed at the end.

Two days of unforgettable scenery unfolding before you as you conquer 188 kms and a challenging yet rewarding 2563^m elevation gain. With 75% of the route along gravel roads, you'll feel like you're venturing into the heart of the countryside. But you won't be alone! Our supportive MC crew will be there to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience every pedal of the way.

Here's a sneak peek of our July Gravel Overnighter (27-28 July):

Day 1: Windsor to Wollombi (128kms, 1762m elevation)

Day one begins with a relaxed train to Windsor for an 8:00 AM roll, featuring a coffee stop, riverside brunch, and a refresh before culminating in Wollombi with comfy beds and a pub meal after 128 scenic kilometers.

Day 2: Wollombi to Morisset (59kms, 793m elevation)

Day two starts with a relaxed Wollombi breakfast before a 49km ride to a Cooranbong coffee stop and the final 10km to Morisset. From there, regular trains will take you back to Central by lunchtime, leaving you to reflect on your awesome bikepacking weekend.

Please note: This incredible experience requires a bit of preparation to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment. Please take note of the following:

  • Bike requirements: You'll need a gravel or mountain bike equipped with tyres of 35mm or larger to comfortably handle the varied terrain.

  • Remote riding: Be aware that phone reception is non-existent between Wisemans Ferry and Wollombi, and only partial from Wollombi to Morisset.

  • Navigation skills essential: You must be able to navigate using a bike computer with the route downloaded, as relying on your phone won't be an option for significant portions of the route.

  • Be prepared: You are responsible for carrying essential spares and knowing how to perform basic bike maintenance and being self-sufficient. If you're unsure about anything, pop into the MC Clubhouse for a chat with our team.

  • Hydration and nutrition: You will need to be able to carry two litres of water and bring sufficient on-bike nutrition.
