Izzy’s ascent to the U23 ranks

Izzy’s cycling journey started with a life-changing decision. After a decade in competitive gymnastics, Izzy stepped away from it in 2022. Within a year, a simple bike fix-up led her to join Randwick Cycling Club in 2023. She quickly progressed through the Randwick Wings Development Squad, gaining crucial bunch and racing skills against more experienced U17 competitors.

After graduating high school in 2024, Izzy took a gap year to focus on racing, joining the Perth-based Cycling Development Foundation (CDF) for 2025. Her time with CDF, including coaching at the Exercise Institute, has led to a "huge improvement" in her strength. A major highlight of the season has been racing with CDF in Oudenaarde, Belgium, experiencing international competition firsthand.

Since October 2024, Izzy has been supported by the team at MC. As the only junior elite female rider in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, MC provides "game-changer" support, from bike services to nutrition advice. She is proud to be a MC ambassador, often joining our local rides, including the fortnightly women's ride, that help build a community of passionate riders.

The remainder of 2025 is focused on key domestic goals including the Tour of Margaret River in October and racing the Tour of Bright in December where she will specifically target her climbing strength. The 2026 season is a major step as she enters the Under 23 category, which will kick off with the Aussie Road Nationals, where her goal is to finish in the Top 20. For the second half of 2026, Izzy will be focussed on securing a spot in a European-based team. After experiencing racing in Belgium this year, she is super keen to return to Belgium to race for a few months.

Izzy’s trajectory has been wonderful to witness and sets the stage to see her in the elite ranks of cycling.
