Bondi2Berry Wrap
After a pretty turbulent and unpredictable year due to COVID-19, Bondi2Berry was one of only a few cycling and fundraising events that managed to get something off the ground physically with the postponed running of the 5th Bondi2Berry on 5 December 2020. Conditions were perfect (with some amazing PBs and Strava cups due to a tailwind) with 100 riders making their way 155km from Bondi to Berry, supported by 40 volunteers and event crew.
It was a great effort by everyone that participated and supported financially. The event managed to fundraise $110K for Dementia Australia.
That means Bondi2Berry has now raised over $500K for Dementia Australia in the past 5 years, which amongst other things, has allowed funding of Bondi2Berry's first research project called Cage vs Age, which hopes to halt the spread of tau protein in the brain.
And next.....Bondi2BlueMountains
On this coming weekend, a group of 40 dedicated riders and support crew will leave on an epic 4 day journey covering 650 kms and 8000 metres of climbing for the Bondi2BlueMountains charity bike ride from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 March 2021. Once again, due to COVID-19 this is the postponed multi-day extension ride from September 2020 to March 2021.
The ride will depart Bondi and travel north west to the Blue Mountains and return to Sydney via Goulburn and Kiama. There will be two groups of 20 riders taking on the challenge.
The route:
- Saturday 6 March – _Bondi to Lithgow (155km and 2,800m elevation)
- Sunday 7 March – _Lithgow to Goulburn (210km and 3,200m elevation)
- Monday 8 March – _Goulburn to Kiama (155km and 1,800m elevation)
- Tuesday 9 March – _Kiama to Sydney (120km and 1,200m elevation)
