It is the weekend of the Tour of Flanders. The Tour of Flanders, or Ronde van Vlaanderen, is defined by its tortuous twists, turns and narrow cobbled climbs, and is arguably one of the most spectacular races.
It is only fitting that Rouleur 118 is dedicated to the Classics and to Flanders especially. In the tiny corner of Flanders, known as the Flemish Flanders, the imagery is unlike the pretty pictures of the Tour de France, and captures ordinary landscapes of rural countryside with orange roofs dotted in green fields and farmland. But this area is home the greatest bike races in the world in spring each year.
The racing in 2023 has already brought excitement. Team Jumbo-Visma have been the undisputed winners of the Classics so far this spring, with Dylan van Baarle winning Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Tiesj Benoot Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, Wout van Aert E3 Saxo Bank Classic, and most recently Christophe Laporte both Gent-Wevelgem (featuring the much talked bout gift from Van Aert) and Dwars door Vlaanderen. But at the Tour of Flanders this weekend, the Dutch squad must battle a peloton of talent hungry for success. Mathieu van der Poel and Tadej Pogačar, along with Jumbo’s Van Aert, have looked so superior to everyone else that they’ve being referred to as The Big Three.
Grab yourself a copy of Rouleur 118, a beer and some chips (it's only appropriate for a Belgian race), as you sit down to exciting racing at the Tour of Flanders this weekend. Rouleur 118 is available inshore at MC Clubhouse now.
