2022 World Champs in Wollongong - and looking for volunteers

Businesses and residents are preparing for an action-packed week of cycling and cultural activities when the 2022 UCI Road World Championships come to Wollongong in September.

The Championships will feature the Team Time Trial Mixed Relay, Individual Time Trials, Road Races, Community events and Activations throughout the eight days.

The Championships are expected to attract more than 1,000 competitors, 5,000 staff and 300,000 spectators to the Wollongong region during the Championships. A great cycling event for Wollongong and Sydney surrounds.


The 2022 UCI Road World Championships will take place in Wollongong from 18-25 September 2022, where more than 1,000 of the top international cyclists from 70+ nations will compete for a gold medal and the coveted rainbow jersey. It is one of the top sporting events in the world and is watched by more than 300 million viewers around the globe.

Are you a volunteer?

To successfully deliver the event and make the World Championships a memorable experience for all athletes, spectators, officials, sponsors and everyone involved, the event is calling for 1,500+ enthusiastic and passionate volunteers to help us across a variety of different areas.

Whether it is to meet new people, learn new skills, give back to your local community or contribute your experience toward this Olympic-scale celebration, Wollongong has a role for you.
